2022 Term 4 Week 8
Dear Parents and Carers,
It's been a wonderful few weeks at St Mary's with numerous opportunities to celebrate our community. In Week 6 our P&F held a Family Disco and the evening was a huge success, attended by many of our families. All the dancing and singing at the Disco was a 'warm up' to last night's Musical, St Mary's Got Talent.
The efforts of students, families and staff in preparing and staging the musical did not go unrecognised by the enthusiastic audience, and other then a less then pleasing review of a certain dancing act (by staff) it was a night to remember.
Words really can not express our appreciation of such a wonderful effort.
With the academic year almost over teaching staff have been working hard to prepare Semester 2 reports which will be published next week. Please watch out for the Compass link. Parent Teacher interviews will be available. Also next week we will be announcing staffing arrangements for the 2023 year.
This week we welcomed four McAuley Catholic College students to our school for work experience, three of them being former students of St Mary's. Staff who knew them in their primary years were proud to welcome them back and see the young adults they have become.
Over the next two weeks our Year 6 students will be celebrating the end of their primary school education with a fun day out and their graduation dinner (Wednesday 7 December) at the Grafton District Services Club. Over the coming years we know they too will be amazing ambassadors for St Mary's Primary School.
Canteen will not be open in Week 9 (Tuesday 4 December), allowing all our helpers the opportunity to attend the Mass of Thanksgiving and Awards ceremony.
Our Year 5 students will be presenting their Leadership speeches on Thursday 8 December which is the first step in becoming our 2023 leaders.
The Colour run which was to be held today has been moved to Friday 9 December.
During the holidays we are attending to the recent roof issue which caused flooding in the Stage 2 classrooms. A number of other modifications will be undertaken also which we are looking forward to seeing in 2023.
Our Term 4 calendar has undergone a some modifications. Please see the image below:
Just a reminder that we have a Pupil free Day on Monday 5 December and the 2022 school year ends on Friday 16 December 2022.
Warm regards

The P&F are an important group within our school. We understand that it is not always for parents to attend the meetings due to time restraints of family and work. We value everyone's thoughts and ideas and therefore invite parents to use the link below to share agenda items with us.

Kiss and Drop Zone in Turf Street
Just a reminder that the Kiss and Drop Zone is currently signed as a one minute parking zone. This means that you cannot park your car in the kiss and drop zone for an extended period. The students arrive at Kiss and Drop at 3pm and are supervised in this zone until 3.20pm. Please consider arriving closer to 3pm for collection.
The Kiss and Drop is designed for you to stay in your car while your child enters the car. If your child cannot open the car door and secure their own seatbelt, you need to park your car and walk to the gate to collect your child. The Kiss and Drop Zone does not function effectively and becomes congested if there are any hold ups or delays.
The school does not request the presence of the Grafton Police to manage traffic at the front of the school. However, there is a regular police presence on Turf Street monitoring the safety of the school zone. Please ensure that you adhere to all traffic signs in the area to avoid fines.
Please check out our school Safe Travel webpage that details all the processes for travel to and from school.
Parking in Hoof Street
There are a small number of parking spaces near the Sunrise Shop (corner of Hoof and Turf Streets) for use by their customers. To assist this small business we suggest parking away from the corner.
