2022 Term 4 Week 4
Dear Parents and Carers,
We hope everyone enjoyed Jacaranda Thursday yesterday. Well done to our very talented Primary Dance Group who performed ‘The Greatest Show’ on stage in Market Square, you all did a wonderful job and we are very proud of you. A huge thank you to Ms Katherine Davies and Mrs Mindy Cameron for their time and dedication in leading this.
Don't forget we have the Jacaranda Float Parade this Saturday. We have reshared information regarding the float via Compass today.
Next Tuesday our Year 6 students attend their second Orientation Day at McAuley Catholic College. We will not hold a St Mary's P&F meeting on Tuesday night, allowing our parents the opportunity to attend the Information evening being held at the College.
In Week 5 our students will be involved in a Remembrance Day and Commemorative unveiling ceremony at school. A number of art pieces were commissioned through funds obtained from a ANZAC grant. These have been displayed in the playground and we thank the many staff members who made this possible, in particular the very talented Ms Davies.
Also in Week 5 Mini Mary's will attend their first Orientation Day at St Mary's Primary. We are very excited to welcome the students and their families and look forward to a long and happy association. On Wednesday 16 November we have invited the Kindergarten 2023 parents to St Mary's for our Kindy Parent Information Session.
Please watch out for information concerning our upcoming musical, St Mary's Got Talent which will be held at McAuley Catholic College on 1 December.
Just a reminder that the allocated staff development (pupil free days) for this year are as follows.
Friday 8 April Tuesday 26 April Monday 18 July
Monday 10 October Monday 5 December
Jacaranda Thursday (public holiday) - 3 November
The 2022 school year ends on Friday 16 December 2022.
Warm regards
Jas Stuart
Assistant Principal - Learning and Teaching
On Wednesday 26 October our school participated in our Crazy Sock Day for Socktober- a fundraising initiative for Catholic Mission.
Socktober cultivates the passion of students to rise up, engage their local community and take action against poverty through the world game of soccer.
It provides young people in Australia with the opportunity to lead in mission, encouraging them to think not only of what they will do to help, but why they will do it.
This year, our students raised over $1000 for Catholic MIssion to support families in need in Ethiopia. Well done kids!
Below are some pics of our Crazy Socks and our "Socktober Shootout'.

Term 4 Calendar
St Mary's P&F
The P&F are an important group within our school. We understand that it is not always for parents to attend the meetings due to time restraints of family and work. We value everyone's thoughts and ideas and therefore invite parents to use the link below to share agenda items with us.
Message from Transport for NSW
Transport for NSW have recently reviewed and update their information for parents regarding the safe choices when moving a child form a booster seat to an adult seatbelt. Please visit https://www.childcarseats.com.au/ for information.
School Fee Update
Kiss and Drop Zone in Turf Street
Just a reminder that the Kiss and Drop Zone is currently signed as a one minute parking zone. This means that you cannot park your car in the kiss and drop zone for an extended period. The students arrive at Kiss and Drop at 3pm and are supervised in this zone until 3.20pm. Please consider arriving closer to 3pm for collection.
The Kiss and Drop is designed for you to stay in your car while your child enters the car. If your child cannot open the car door and secure their own seatbelt, you need to park your car and walk to the gate to collect your child. The Kiss and Drop Zone does not function effectively and becomes congested if there are any hold ups or delays.
The school does not request the presence of the Grafton Police to manage traffic at the front of the school. However, there is a regular police presence on Turf Street monitoring the safety of the school zone. Please ensure that you adhere to all traffic signs in the area to avoid fines.
Please check out our school Safe Travel webpage that details all the processes for travel to and from school.
Parking in Hoof Street
There are a small number of parking spaces near the Sunrise Shop (corner of Hoof and Turf Streets) for use by their customers. To assist this small business we suggest parking away from the corner.
